This is a very rare Wisconsin decoy. It's one of a dozen that
were special ordered for the Remington Gun Club. We found this decoy
years ago in South Dakota along with 7 other rig mates. We purchased
these from the owner of the property on Lake Minnewasta near Waubay,
South Dakota, where a duck hunting club was located from the early
1900's through the 1950's. It reportedly was called the Milwaukee
Club. He told me that these decoys were brought there along with
many others by hunters and officials of the Milwaukee Railroad
and Remington Arms Company. One was Clyde Mitchell. He said he remembered them because they
were strung out on a line used as the lead decoys to their spread of
several hundred decoys. This decoy is in excellent original condition with original paint and the original Strey weight. There is a slight separation to the body seam and a very small piece of original filler has fallen out from one side and a screw hole.. this decoy measures 18 inches long, 9-1/2 wide, and 7 high to the top of the head.
